Dreier Votes Against Homeowners Twice In One Day
Warner: "Dreier's series of ‘no' votes = no leadership on foreclosure crisis."
Congressman David Dreier sided twice
today with subprime lenders and against American homeowners. Dreier
first voted against the Neighborhood Stabilization Act, which allows
states to protect
property values by acquiring vacant, foreclosed homes and
rehabilitating
them. Later in the afternoon, Dreier got
his second wind and voted against the American Housing Rescue and
Foreclosure
Prevention Act, which provides mortgage refinancing assistance and will
keep an
estimated 500,000 families from losing their homes. He was on the
losing side of both votes.

Tax Day A Reminder of War’s Cost

Today's federal tax filing deadline serves as a reminder of the cost of the war
and the trade-offs made, says Russ Warner, Democratic candidate for
California's 26th congressional seat.
"Up to 35% of our income is due to be sent to the federal
government. According to estimates made
by the Congressional Budget Office, each household in America will spend an average of $4,681
financing the war in Iraq.
Rep. David Dreier has supported
President Bush and his management of this war every step of the way - so on a
day like today, it's fair to ask what we could have gotten instead.

Dreier Takes More Than $12,000 From Sub-Prime Lender, Votes Against Help for Homeowners

Congressman David Dreier has taken over $12,000 in campaign contributions from
the sub-prime lender Countrywide. And it
looks like their money was well spent - after accepting the funds, Dreier voted
against H Con Res 312 - a provision of which
creates a reserve fund for affordable housing, which would be paid for through
