Rancho Cucamonga businessman Russ Warner (D) "announced his candidacy for Congress" on 6/26 "calling for an end of the war in Iraq" and Rep. David Dreier's (R) "nearly three-decade tenure in office." Warner: "I am taking on this fight because the war in Iraq must be stopped and because America needs new leadership not career politicians like David Dreier who have become a part of the problem in Washington, D.C." The Iraq war is personal for Warner whose son "served in the U.S. Army and was sent to Iraq for 17 months. Warner has been endorsed by Rep. Hilda Solis (D-CA 32) (Release, 6/26).
