Ending the War in Iraq, Honoring Our Troops
Russ's son Greg served our country for 17 months in Iraq. Russ will honor Greg's service by going to Congress and protecting our men and women in uniform. Russ will work to end the Iraq war safely and responsibly, focus on fighting terrorists in Afghanistan and make sure our troops and veterans get the medical care and benefits they were promised.
Providing Affordable Health Care for All
Skyrocketing health care costs are keeping families from receiving the care they need, even preventive care that will keep medical costs down in the long run. And too many Californians - currently over 6 million - are without any health insurance. Russ will stand up to the big insurance and drug companies to help make affordable and quality health care available to everyone.
Lowering Gas Prices
With rising gas prices, America needs to declare our energy independence from big oil companies and foreign countries. Russ supports a new energy policy that increases domestic sources of energy, including investments in alternative energy like wind and solar power, which will save taxpayers money, clean up our air and create new local jobs.
Fighting Wasteful Government Spending
As a successful small business owner, Russ knows how to balance a budget. A fiscal conservative, he will support pay-as-you-go spending and oppose wasteful pork barrel projects.
