Moved By The Moving Wall
This week, the Moving Wall, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall, makes is in the San Gabriel Valley. It's a wonderful tribute to those who served and lost their lives for this great country. But I can't help but think about a name that's not etched on that wall - that of my friend Tom.
He served in Vietnam and came home to battle lifelong disabilities brought on by the use of Agent Orange in that war. Just a few years ago, he died in a sub-standard veteran's hospital. This is one of the reasons I am running for Congress. Unlike David Dreier, I will never lose sight of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform are making. I will fight to ensure that this new generation of veterans coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan receive all the benefits they deserve.
The Moving Wall is in Covina through May 12 at Covina Park, located at 4th and Badillo streets. The wall is privately supported and is a half-size replica of the Washington, D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It has been touring the country for more than twenty years.
