This Valentine’s Day, Make Sure You’re With The One Who Will Put You First
BUSH AND DREIER: TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT
Warner sends Valentine's Day card highlighting Dreier's unquestioning loyalty to Bush
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Russ Warner, Democratic congressional candidate from California's 26th district, released a Valentine's Day card highlighting the mutually beneficial relationship between Congressman David Dreier and President Bush.
"President Bush, I've been yours for seven years now," the card reads. "Will you be mine this Valentine's Day? David Dreier"
The Valentine card underlines Dreier's tendency to prioritize his loyalty to President Bush above his constituents' interests.
"I'm running for Congress because we deserve a representative who will fight to improve our communities, not just sit around Washington and serve as a lap dog for the President's agenda," Warner said today.
Warner cited several examples of how Dreier's voting record benefits the President more than the people of California:
- In the past five years, Dreier voted with President George W. Bush 96% of the time.
- Between 1980 and 2006, Dreier received over $184,000 from energy and natural resource industry interests. In 2005, Dreier voted for President Bush's energy bill, which gave $2.6 billion in tax breaks to energy companies.
- Just last year, Dreier voted against legislation expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), which gave health care coverage to children who need it most. He also voted twice to support the President's veto of this legislation.
"Voters have made it clear that they are ready for change," Warner said. "It's time for new leaders with new
priorities in Washington. In Congress I will put the voters' interests
above special interests and deliver for our communities."
