Warner Holds Middle Class Squeeze Event to Highlight Rising Cost of Living
Warner passed out fresh squeezed orange juice, talked about growing pressure on families
Rancho Cucamonga - Russ Warner, Democratic candidate for California's 26th congressional seat, held a ‘Middle Class Squeeze' event on Sunday to highlight how the high prices of gas, groceries and health care are affecting American families. The event was held at the Claremont Farmer's Market, and Warner passed out fresh squeezed orange juice to underline his point.
"The rising economic pressure on American
families is something that George Bush and David Dreier haven't taken seriously,
and a Middle Class Squeeze event is a way to draw attention to that," said
Warner. "Tax breaks for millionaires and huge giveaways to oil companies don't
make sense when working Americans are being stretched to the breaking point."
Warner has lived in the district for 28 years
with his wife, Kris, and their three sons. Twins Adam and Matt work in the
family business. Greg, the eldest, is in the U.S. Army and served in Iraq for
seventeen months. Upon his return home from the war, Greg challenged his father
to make a difference by running for Congress.
"The message under Dreier and
Bush is that if you work hard and play by the rules, you can't get ahead in this
country," said Kristin Points, Warner's campaign manager. "But if you're a
corporate lobbyist who knows how to work the system, there's no limit to the tax
giveaways you can get. We wanted everyday people to know that someone is
listening to them, even if they're government
isn't."
